Congratulations Deputy Chief Pat Zimmerman

On Friday, October 6, Pat Zimmerman was sworn in as the new Deputy Chief of Operations for the Vernon Hills Police Department.

Deputy Chief Zimmerman joined the Vernon Hills Police Department in late 1997. During his time here he has held almost every possible position on the Department including: Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, DARE Officer, Evidence technician, Juvenile Officer, NIPAS Mobile Field Force, MEG Agent (including both Supervisor and Acting Deputy Director), Patrol Sergeant, Investigations Sergeant, Patrol Commander.

For the past five years Pat has served as VHPD Investigations Commander and since 2016 he has been the Commander of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.

Approximately 150 family members, friends, coworkers and others were on hand for the promotion ceremony. (In fact, the crowd looked like a who's who in area law enforcement.)

Deputy Chief Zimmerman holds a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree from Western Illinois University. He is also a graduate of the Administrative Officer's Course at the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville.
