Women's Self Defense Class

Instructor Harriet Johnson addresses the crowd.Since 1994, the Vernon Hills Police Department has offered a free 2-hour women’s self-defense class to residents of Vernon Hills age 8 and up (children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult). The instructor for the class is a former police officer and an expert in self-defense. The class is usually scheduled on the fourth Tuesday of May from 7 PM - 9 PM.

Some of the topics that are covered in the class are: basic principles of survival and awareness; vulnerable areas of the body; psychology of fear and how to make it work for you; and the basic principles of self-defense.
