The Vernon Hills Police Department has an interesting device used to track speed in the community. It’s called StealthStat. Roughly the size of a small suitcase, StealthStat is designed to be securely mounted (and locked) on a street pole. It's a computer driven device that uses Doppler Radar to gather traffic data by counting the number and speed of vehicles traveling on a specific roadway.
Speed Studies
StealthStat DOES NOT record license numbers or take pictures of drivers. It is used solely to gather information for speed studies.
