Lake County Major Crime Task Force

25 Years of Law Enforcement Teamwork

When a serious or complex crime occurs, almost all law enforcement LCMCTF Seal 2.jpgagencies lack the staffing needed to thoroughly and successfully investigate the incident. Many cases involve a multitude of needs including (to name a few) crime scene processing, evidence collection, locating and interviewing victims and witnesses, conducting surveillances and interviewing suspects.

That's where the Lake County Major Crime Task Force comes in.

The LCMCTF was formed in 1992 in response to a mutual need for vast investigative resources and expertise from all Lake County law enforcement agencies. In addition to the Vernon Hills Police Department, the LCMCTF is comprised of members from approximately 30 law enforcement agencies including the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Illinois State Police.

One of the most recent cases that the task force investigated was the December shooting of a motorist on Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville. The investigation culminated in an arrest in which the suspect was charged with murder.

The residents of Lake County can indeed be proud that this group of dedicated and highly trained law enforcement professionals are available at a moment's notice. Their skill and expertise are unmatched.
