As we move into storm season, stay informed by subscribing to the Village's Blackboard Connect emergency information system.

- Receive emergency messages (voice, text) to your cell and/or your email, at work and at home
- This system is tested on the first Tuesday of March and September
Village Emergency Warning Network
The Village maintains a network of warning sirens with voice message capability to provide mass notification of emergency situations. Residents may have heard this system being tested on the first Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. Sirens are located on the Rust-Oleum property off Hawthorn Parkway, Oakwood Road, Route 45/Fairway Drive, Gregg's Parkway west of Lakeview, and Vernon Hills High School.
Severe Weather Prepareness:
- Take time to plan and prepare before severe weather hits
- Have several means of staying informed, including Blackboard Connect and local weather apps
- Consider investing in a NOAA Weather Radio
- Check Ready.gov for resources and suggestions for preparing for a variety of emergencies
- Review information on how to shelter in case of a Tornado Watch or Warning – For any Warning (tornado or severe storm), seek shelter immediately – Go to the lowest level of a sturdy building; stay away from windows, doors and outside walls; if you are caught outside, stay low/lie flat and use your arms to protect your head and neck.
- Make a Family Emergency Plan, including suggestions for creating an emergency kit, taking shelter, evacuating, and staying in communication with each other
- Weather.gov offers information about weather warnings as well as suggestions for staying safe during lightning storms, tornadoes, floods and more
