The Lake County Clerk's Office encourages all eligible people to register to vote in the November 8 General Election.
Have you never voted before? Have you recently turned 18? Have you moved? Have you changed your name? Have you become a U.S. Citizen? Now is the time to check that you are properly registered to vote. Registering is quick and easy - as is voting!
NEEDED TO REGISTER: In order to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen; a resident of your voting precinct for 30 days before Election Day; be 18 years old on or before November 8, 2022; and provide two accepted forms of identification with your current name and current Lake County physical street address.
HOW/WHERE TO REGISTER: Here in Lake County, IL, you can access Online Voter Registration until October 23. You may also register at the Lake County Clerk's Office in Waukegan as well as at early voting sites, which will be open from October 24 to November 7.
CHECK YOUR VOTING INFORMATION: The Lake County Clerk's personalized Voter Power website allows you to check your registration status as well as review a ballot (when it becomes available) and see where you can vote.
VOTE BY MAIL: Registered voters interested in receiving and returning a ballot via mail may sign up on their Voter Power webpage, or visit the County's Voting by Mail website. Ballots are mailed out starting 40 days before Election Day.
EARLY VOTING: Early Voting will be available from September 29 to October 21 at the Lake County Clerk's Office, 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early Voting expands to county-wide sites from October 24 to November 7, and includes evening and weekend hours. Those locations will be posted once the county-wide sites open.
