Law Enforcement’s Finest To Gather For Exhibition

During the weekend of September 9^th and 10^th, the Vernon Hills Police Department will host its 13^th Annual Law Enforcement Exhibition at Hawthorn Mall.  The purpose of this event is for area law enforcement and related agencies to gather in one location for people to see specialty vehicles, equipment and demonstrations and to interact with officers. 
 
Twenty-eight area law enforcement (and related) agencies are scheduled to participate.  Some additional things of interest visitors will see at the Exhibition (in addition to squads) include motorcycles, a Humvee and a 9-1-1 calling simulator. The Illinois Freemasons are scheduled to be on hand to supply detailed identification kits for children, including fingerprints, photos and video interviews.
 
One of the highlights of the weekend are the many police K9 demonstrations.  K9 units from the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Mundelein Police Department and Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) are scheduled to conduct demonstrations. With the assistance of Tops Kennel in Grayslake, the demonstrations are scheduled for 1:00, 4:00 and 7:00 on Saturday, September 9. On Sunday, September 10 demonstrations are scheduled for 1:00 and 4:00. 
 
Mall hours are 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on Saturday, September 9^th and 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 10^th.   Police exhibits will be available for public viewing during the entire weekend.  There will also be plenty of free handouts and giveaways.
 
“The Exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for us to regenerate public interest in the positive aspects of police work,” said event coordinator Kim Christenson.  “It’s fun and educational for everyone, regardless of age.”
