Vernon Hills 2017 Oktoberfest

The 13th Annual Oktoberfest will be held on September 23, 2017 at the Vernon Hills Metra Station, located on U.S. Route 45.

Free kids crafts, while supplies last. Free pumpkins to paint, while supplies last, The free hay ride is sponsored by the Vernon Hills Park District.

Food will be prepared and sold by your local nonprofit organization. Beer (Blue Moon, Miller Lite and Miller MGD), coffee, pop, and water will also be served.

The Cook Memorial Library District will have the "Book Mobil" available on site and the Lincolnshire/Riverwoods Fire Protection District will have fire trucks on display for the kids.

Village Wide Fundraiser for Harvey & Irma Victims

The recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida impacted thousands homes and has devastated coastal cities. As a way to show support for the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, Vernon Hills will provide a matching donation of up to $5,000 to the American Red Cross. Donation buckets will be available at Village Hall as well as at our annual Oktoberfest on September 23, 2017.

Donations can be received at Village Hall (290 Evergreen) during business hours (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F) or by mail. If mailing a donation, please address the check to the American Red Cross and send to:

We will accept donations until October 11, 2017.

Sept. 17: CLC’s campus farm to participate in annual Farm Stroll
The College of Lake County’s campus farm, located on the east side of the Grayslake Campus, will be among 11 local family farms featured on the first-annual Farm Stroll. Community members can take free, self-guided tours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17.

Sept. 20: College hosts Lake County Government Career Day
Interested in working for Lake County government? Meet with recruiters from several county offices and learn about the job application process at Lake County Government Career Day. The event will take place Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room C106 on the College of Lake County’s Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.

Sept. 26: Entry deadline for CLC’s ‘Recent Works’ art exhibit
The deadline to submit online entry forms for the College of Lake County’s 37^th Annual Recent Works: A Juried Competition exhibit is Sept. 26. Entry forms and images can be uploaded from the entry website, www.clcillinois.edu/callforentries includes detailed information on artwork specifications and deadlines.
Approximately $2,000 in cash prizes and purchase awards will be given to artists selected for the exhibit, on view at CLC’s Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art. An opening reception with award announcements will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 in the gallery, with live music and refreshments. The exhibit will run through Nov. 11.

Sept. 28: Come to Engineering Night at College of Lake County
Curious regarding the duties and educational requirements for careers in engineering and computer science? Come to the College of Lake County on Thursday, Sept. 28 to learn about the careers and meet with representatives from area engineering schools. The free event, open to high school students and their parents, runs from 5:30-9 p.m. in Café Willow on the CLC Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.
