APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED for Household Chemical Waste Events located at our Gurnee Facility to ensure safety & efficiency. Collections are for residential waste only. No business waste will be accepted. All SWALCO HCW Collection Events are FREE for Illinois residents ONLY.

Items you can bring to a collection include: CFL bulbs, unwanted prescription, over-the-counter medicines and supplements (people and pet), household cleaners, gasoline, garden chemicals, pesticides, oil-based paints (NO LATEX) and varnishes, as well as other household chemicals. Refuse and Recycling Containers

The Village would like to remind residents to be mindful of mother nature when placing refuse and recycling containers out for pick-up. Strong winds, winter conditions, or even the neighborhood raccoon may cause your container to spill onto the roadway or your neighbors property. Registration still open for CLC Spring Semester classes that begin Jan. 16
There’s still time to register for the College of Lake County’s Spring Semester classes that begin Jan. 16. To view spring course offerings and learn how to become a student, visit

Genesee St., Waukegan, and the Southlake Campus, 1120 S. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills. All three campuses will be open Saturday, Jan. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.for registration assistance. The college is closed Jan. 15 to observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

Art gallery presents 2018 Members Exhibit Jan. 19 to Feb. 17
A Members Exhibition, featuring a diverse collection of works by artist members of the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art, will open at the College of Lake County on Friday, Jan. 18 and run through Feb. 17. The exhibit will kick off with a reception for the artists on Jan. 19 from 6-8 p.m. in the gallery, located on CLC’s Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St. For details, visit
International film series kicks off Feb. 2
Four highly acclaimed international films released in 2016 will be presented for free at 7 p.m. on Fridays by the College of Lake County Center for International Education. The Spring Semester films are: “Neruda” Feb. 2, “The Handmaiden” March 2, “The Salesman” April 6 and “Nocturama” May 4. Films are shown in Room C105
