Scouting for Food
Service is a long-standing scouting tradition. From barn raisings to soup kitchens, ordinary Americans have always made an extraordinary difference in the lives of their neighbors by lending a helping hand, and - as the Scout slogan states - doing a good turn daily. Today, America needs the service of its citizens more than ever to help overcome hunger, lack of adequate shelter, and poor health. Scouting for food is one of the ways we serve our community. Each March, when IL food pantries are at their lowest, scouts rally to collect food. Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Vernon Hills will participate in the Northeast Illinois Council Scouting for Food Drive from Saturday, March 10th to March 17th so mark your calendars for this important service project. If you receive a door hanger on March 10th and would like to participate, please leave your donation on your porch on March 17th and we will pick up between 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. If you do not receive a door hanger, you can make a donation at any Sunset Foods or drop food off at Christ Lutheran Church between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on March 17th. Thank you for your support.
