VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Vernon Hills Lacrosse Tournament

The Leahy Family Foundation is looking for volunteers to help raise money for charity and take part in one of the biggest lacrosse tournaments in the country – July 14 and 15.  This will be an excellent opportunity to work up a sweat by giving back to the community.  Young people can also gain volunteer experience needed for scholarship applications and resumes by joining you in the experience.  While we welcome students and families, we ask all volunteers to be age 16 and over, as volunteers will be cooking and serving hot food.
The Pipe City Lacrosse Festival is held on the American Hotel grounds, as well as the high school stadium, the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex, and all of the surrounding athletic fields.  This year 225 teams will be playing, joined by nearly 25,000 spectators.  The Leahy Family has generously donated their land for the event and the Leahy Family Foundation will be providing the concessions for the entire tournament.
The money raised will benefit charities that aid individuals with special needs, provide educational support for children, and fund cancer research.  Some of the charitable organizations supported by the Foundation are: Boys & Girls Club of Lake County, Gateway for Cancer Research, the H Foundation, and NSSRA.
The event requires more than 100 volunteers to run efficiently. Volunteers will be needed for 4 hour shifts between the hours of 8am and 6pm on Saturday 7/14, and between 8am and 4pm on Sunday 7/15.  Encourage your family and friends to volunteer with you!
