road construction

Route 21/60 Road Construction

The Route 60/21 intersection improvements are nearing completion.  The underground utilities and additional lanes have been completed. Last weekend the roadway was milled and is ready for the installation of the asphalt leveling binder and final surface.  Loop detectors, pavement markings and conversion to the new permanent traffic signals will occur soon after this work is complete.

Although this project is ahead of the projected schedule, it has been difficult on drivers and we anticipate that the project will be substantially completed by August 20, 2018.  The additional turning and thru lanes are a major improvement to this extremely important IDOT intersection and will improve the level of service for years to come.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding as the project is completed.
