Annual VHHS Choir Fall Concert
December 13, 2018, 6:00 p.m. &  8:00 p.m.,
in the VHHS Auditorium

VHHS Presents their 18th Annual Holiday Concert featuring the Symphony Orchestra and Choirs on December 13, 2018, with two performances at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The Choirs and Symphony Orchestra will present holiday favorites such as Carol of the Bells, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Sleigh Ride. This year, the women of the Choirs will combine with a garage-punk percussion ensemble to present a modern take on the medieval Gregorian chant Gaudete, while the men of the Choirs will combine to sing Pavel Chesnokov's Spaseniye Sodelal, a masterwork of Russian choral music. Finally, each concert will conclude with the Hallelujah Chorus by Handel, and all community members and alumni are invited to sing along. There is a 100% chance of snow and holiday cheer!
Tickets are $5.00 and go on sale to the general public on Nov 30 at Tickets can also be purchased on the day of the concerts at the door. 50% of all ticket proceeds will be donated to the Vernon Township Food Pantry. Non-perishable food and cash donations will also be collected at the door.

Vernon Hills Police Support Toys For Tots

From now until December 10, the Vernon Hills Police Department will again be a drop-off location for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.  Last year, we collected enough toys to fill fifteen boxes.  We’d like to repeat that again this year – or beat it.
All kinds of toys can be donated.  Some ideas for older children include sporting equipment/bags/balls, books, backpacks, cosmetics, purses, watch/wallet gift sets, bath gift sets, board games, radio control cars/trucks, hand-held electronics, skateboards/helmets, curling irons, hair straighteners, and hair dryers.

The Toys for Tots program accepts new, unwrapped items.  Realistic looking weapons or gifts with food will not be accepted.  If donated, such items will NOT be distributed.
Naturally, the Police Department drop-off box at 740 Lakeview Parkway is available 24 hours-a-day.  However, the Vernon Hills Village Hall and the Vernon Hills Public Works facility are also drop-off locations.  Visit for the hours these additional boxes are accessible.

“We hope everyone joins us in making the holidays happy for children who might otherwise receive nothing,” said Patrick L. Kreis, Chief of Police.   "It would be great if we had to empty the box every single day.”
Anyone with questions should call the Vernon Hills Police Department Crime Prevention Unit at (847) 247-4889
