The College of Lake County has been selected as one of 10 American two-year schools each to receive $100,000 in scholarships from Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and the American Association of Community Colleges. These students will become the first cohort under the Metallica Scholars Initiative sponsored by the nine-time, Grammy Award-winning band. For details, visit

Jan. 8: College hosts Quick-Start spring registration event on all three campuses
As area residents set their sights on 2019, the College of Lake County has created a convenient way to quick-start your future. The college will host a Quick-Start event to help students build their futures on Tuesday, Jan. 8 from 4-7 p.m. at the Grayslake, Lakeshore (Waukegan) and Southlake (Vernon Hills) Campuses. Vernon Hills American Legion Post 1247 will be hosting BINGO at the Vernon Hills Golf Course, 291 Evergreen Drive on the first Thursday of the month. The next event will be Thursday January 3 beginning at 6PM.  Proceeds go to support programs sponsored by the Post, such as the Wounded Warrior Project among others. A cash bar along with food is available from the Vernon Hills Golf Course Grill.


Holiday Tree Pick Up Schedule

The Public Works Dept. will begin picking up Holiday trees curbside on Monday, January 7, 2019 through January 11, 2019 only. Pickup dates will be based on areas/subdivisions within the Village; therefore, please refer to the link below for a full schedule of areas and dates. If residents should miss their scheduled pickup date(s), Advanced Disposal will be begin picking up trees curbside from January 15th through February 15th. Public Works will not pickup trees curbside after January 11th.
