Register now for the Vernon Hills July 4th Parade.  

Volunteers are always need to assist on the 4th with the staging of the parade.  If you are interested or would like mor information, contact or call 847-918-3562.

Vernon Hills American Legion Post 1247 will be hosting BINGO at the Vernon Hills Golf Course, 291 Evergreen Drive on the first Thursday of the month. The next event will be Thursday April 4 beginning at 6:30PM.  Proceeds go to support programs sponsored by the Post, such as the Wounded Warrior Project among others. A cash bar along with food is available from the Vernon Hills Golf Course Grill.


Bunny Rock 5K and Egg Hunt

April 13, 2019 and the Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills and the 5K race starts at 8:30 a.m.  Participants receive bunny ears, neon sunglasses and a dri-fit t-shirt.  The Egg Hunt is for ages 2-10 and begins at 9:45 a.m.  There will be 3000 candy filled eggs along the course, a live petting zoo with over 20 animals and opportunities to have your child's picture taken with the Easter Bunny.  Children will receive baskets for their eggs, bunny ears and sunglasses.

Awards: Specialized medals will be handed out to the top 3 male and female finishers in all age groups.  The overall top 3 male and female finishers will also receive a Bunny Rock mug.
Charity: Proceeds from the race will benefit Reach Rescue, Inc., a local no-kill animal shelter whose mission is fostering, rescuing and sheltering homeless animals.

Laschen Center Demolition Update March 29, 2019

The contractor anticipates to start the demolition of the Laschen Center on April 11 and the contract calls for a 60 day completion of the work.  The majority of the utilities have been disconnected and the Police Department and Fire District notified.  The first steps in the project will be to install the tree protection, safety fencing and silt fence and the demolition activities will be conducted off of Evergreen Drive.  After the building materials are removed, it will be backfilled with soil and a grass turf established.  We thank you for your patience.

Theatre students present four one-act plays in April 12-20 Play On!
The unpredictable world of friendships, marriage and family is captured in four one-act plays (two comedy, two drama) in “Play On! A CLC Theatre Student Showcase.” The ninth annual production, presented by College of Lake County theatre students, takes place April 12-14 and 19-20 at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts on the college's Grayslake Campus.  For details, visit
April 11 and 25: Literary publications to hold readings/receptions
The literary arts are thriving at the College of Lake County, and to celebrate the writing and artistic talents represented in CLC’s two award-winning annual literary publications, “Willow Review” and “Prairie Voices,” readings will take place April 11 and 25.
Both events are free and open to the public and will be held at the Grayslake Campus. Copies of the new literary magazines will be available for sale at the readings or Lancer Book Stop stores. For more information, visit

April 12 to May 12: College's 38th Annual Student Art Competition exhibit
A huge variety of artwork created by College of Lake County students will be on display April 12 through May 12 at the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art on the Grayslake Campus. The 38th Annual CLC Student Art Competition is a juried exhibit featuring painting, drawing, computer graphics, photography, ceramics, jewelry, digital media and sculpture. For details, visit
