Zoning Board of Appeals Vacancy Announcement

The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) consists of seven members. Members are appointed by the Village President and confirmed by the Board of Trustees. Terms are five years.

The ZBA is scheduled to meet at 7:00PM on the third Thursday of every month if petitions of variances are pending. Generally, the ZBA meets five to seven times annually.

The powers and duties of the ZBA are specified in the Vernon Hills Zoning Ordinance and Illinois State Statues. The ZBA holds public hearings and makes recommendations to the Village Board on decisions and determinations made by Building Commissioner (Zoning Administrator) in the interpretation and enforcement of the Village Zoning, Development and Sign Ordinances.

Residents wishing to serve on the Zoning Board of Appeals are encouraged to send a letter of interest that outlines their qualifications to the attention of:

Countryside Fire Department Needs Your Vote

Countryside Fire District entered the Underwriter Laboratories Close Before You Doze Video Contest.

There is a great chance they can win this, with your help.
The contest ends in September 15th.  It comes down to the video with the most votes! You can only vote once.

Vernon Hills Park District Seeks Instructors for PALS After School Program

In an effort to clear our extensive waiting list, we are seeking staff to expand our PALS after school program. The PALS Instructor is responsible for supervising and leading activities that are age appropriate for children 5 - 12 years old.  The Instructor will also assist the PALS Supervisor in planning programs and activities. PALS staff may enroll their age appropriate children in the PALS program at no cost during their work hours.
6-8:30 am
1:30-6 pm (Hawthorn Elementary South)
2:30-6 pm (Hawthorn Elementary North)
